PLATFORM | Entrepreneurial Mindset
An entrepreneurial mindset is required by personnel for them to properly innovate. But why?
Entrepreneurs look at the world very differently than non-entrepreneurs because when they perceive a problem in the marketplace, virtually any experienced entrepreneur will see an opportunity for an innovation or business. However, someone without an entrepreneurial mindset will generally only see a problem as an obstacle or difficulty. This means, they may see the impediment just as something to be put up with instead of a situation crying for an innovative solution.
An entrepreneurial mindset is by its very nature customer-focused. According to a study by Right Management, 70% of entrepreneurially oriented employees stated they have a good understanding of how to meet their customers’ needs, whereas only 17% of non-entrepreneurially oriented ones had that understanding.
Having worked with over 1,200 companies during the past 17 years, we have found there are seven qualities that most entrepreneurial-oriented people possess. To effectively develop ideas and then carry innovations through to their logical conclusion, these seven qualities must be present in the minds of your personnel.
To accomplish this goal the elements of an entrepreneurial mindset must first be present both in the company and their personnel. This means an organization must make sure that their staff members look for opportunities for innovation in their daily activities. This will result in employees executing their job responsibilities and interpreting their daily activities in light of this entrepreneurial, innovative oriented mindset.
The reason the presence of an entrepreneurial orientation in a company is crucial is that the ultimate destiny of a company is determined by leadership’s vision for it. By staff sharing that vision, a mindset of entrepreneurship and innovation is cultivated in its employees because everyone gets on the same wavelength. A joint spirit of comradery and cooperation is created as the entire company pursues common goals.
We have found, and research bears out that the presence of the seven entrepreneurial elements in a workforce will start the flow of innovation.
What we do – By using our specialized business planning background and knowledge we train an organization and its personnel to think and operate with an entrepreneurial mindset so they instinctively recognize problems or difficulties they, or others encounter not as obstacles that just need to be put up with, but as opportunities for innovations.
